Sauk Centre, MN

We ran into what looked like a big rainstorm coming this afternoon so I pulled into a rest area that God provided just as the rain started. It turned out to be quite a wind and rain storm, so we waited it out in the rest area.

Afterwards the sky cleared up and we drove on to spend the night here at the Walmart in Sauk Centre.

Wausau, WI

We made it to the generator repair place shortly after lunch and they looked at it right away. They had the part that they needed and had it fixed in an hour or so. We decided to stay overnight there anyway and start out again in the morning. Mom found an antique store to go look through and then we had a delicious supper at a Chinese restaurant called the Happy Wok.

Our campsite:

Escanaba, MI

Time flies and it was time to leave. A long day for us driving and we overnighted at Walmart in Escanaba, MI. Our generator has a diesel fuel leak and we have an appointment to have it looked at tomorrow morning in Wausau, WI. We are driving there today and are supposed to be able to park overnight there.

Caro, MI

The next day we made it to our son’s house in Caro, MI. We were able to spend some time with the kids and grandkids and I had a list of projects. Brendan and I rebuilt a neighbor’s deck, installed some controls on some ceiling fans, and tore out and rebuilt a garage wall.

Portage, IN

Catching up the blog a month late. We spent the next night at the Bass Pro Shop in Portage, IN. It seemed like a long day to get there with a lot of slow downs from road construction. I walked over to Hooters and picked up supper.

Waterloo, IA

Time has flown by! The next day after Osceola, we drove to Des Moines and stopped to have the oil changed in the motor home and the generator. Then off to Saylorville Lake for our volunteer position there. It Wes a busy time there. My job at the lake was affected by changes at the maintenance buildings (preparing for tearing it down and replacing it) and the lake reaching flood levels. A storm tore off our patio awning. One of our daughters there in Des Moines was preparing their house for sale and packing for a move to Alabama. We spent some time there helping with both of those projects. The house sold, we loaded three pods and they left for Alabama with their camper. We enjoyed visiting with our other daughter and her family doing the annual neighborhood rummage sale and their son invited us out to eat a couple of times at some very nice restaurants. We went to one of their daughter’s house to fix an electric outlet giving us a chance to see her house and go out to lunch with her. They took us out to a Chinese buffet before we left town.

The beginning of July brought us to Sioux City. We had sold our house there to our daughter and her family that had been renting it from us. We parked in the driveway there and spent the month of July. Our usual annual medical and financial appointments along with repair projects and time spent playing games and enjoying the grandkids.

That brings us to the first of August and time to head to our son’s house in Michigan. We left Sioux City yesterday and stopped for the night at the Walmart in Waterloo, IA.
