National Balloon Museum

A few days ago we had some indigo buntings visiting our bird feeders here. They are migrating through on their way north. They are one of the prettiest birds to pass through here in my opinion.

We have a couple of pairs of cardinals that are daily visitors.

This pair of rose breasted grosbeaks show up regularly for some seeds.

This poor little bird crashed into one of our windows at full speed yesterday and knocked himself out. A little later he was standing up again like this and later he must have flown away again.

Yesterday, we were invited by one of our daughters here in town to visit the National Balloon Museum and U.S. Hall of Fame. It is located in Indianola, IA which is less than an hour away.
We stopped for lunch at a little cafe in Prole, IA (population 752), that Janice and I had discovered on a trip a couple of weeks ago. The museum had an overwhelming amount of information and displays to look at. Here are just a few of them.

One of my granddaughters took this photo of the window there.

This is my grandson who built the bumper on this truck from scratch for a school welding class project. It was entered into a contest between students in the central Iowa high schools and won first place out of over two hundred entries. Way to go Zaccary!
