Update in Georgia

I guess that this update is a little overdue.  Mom's surgery went well and she is doing well here at home.  I have been volunteering at the soup kitchen here on Mondays and Thursdays and all week on the last week of the month.  I love the southern cooking here and enjoy working with some great cooks.  Here is a typical menu.

Last Wednesday Janice, Mom, and I drove up to Rome, GA to look for Janice's grandmother's grave.  We didn't find it, but we found a great little restaurant in downtown Rome.

Next door was a nice bakery that we visited for dessert.

After lunch we drove up to northwestern Alabama to the Little River Valley for a little sightseeing.

Yesterday, we had visitors for Janice's birthday celebration.  We had tacos for lunch and got to visit a little bit.  Vicki made a beautiful and delicious cake that cracked a little in transit.

Phil and Vicki brought Phil's mom along and we enjoyed visiting with her.

Wedding plans kept several people busy most of the afternoon.

The weather has been a little bit cooler and drier here today, I hope it lasts for awhile.
