Family Camp

Several months ago the kids decided to do family camp again this year. We have done this a few times before. They pick a park and we all camp there for 4 days or so. This year they picked Sibley State Park in Minnesota. One family had a small accident with their camper and the insurance company totaled it out too late for them to find another. One family went to Wisconsin instead. One family had some family problems but let us take most of their kids. On August 4, the remainders headed to the park. We had a great time, but missed the ones who weren't there.

Sleeping in Grandpa's motor home.

Pancakes for breakfast!

Turtle Tuesday! One of the rangers giving a program about turtles.

Story time with Grandma!

Meals were shared together and enjoyed!

Can't have camp without a campfire.

Tejo Tournament Wednesday! An outdoor game played with plastic discs. After the tournament there was a scavenger hunt.

Most of us hiked a few miles up to see the view from the tower on Mt. Tom.

S'mores around the campfire.

Finally it was time to go home. We stopped overnight in Sioux City and then headed to DesMoines. On the interstate close to DesMoines we had a front tire blowout on the motorhome. Janice handled it like a pro and got us safely to the side of the road.

We are in DesMoines and will be for a couple more weeks. Some of us went to the state fair on Sunday. One of the unique things about the Iowa state fair are the butter sculptures. Yes, these are all made from butter.

At the end of the month, we are planning to head to Bismarck, ND to spend some time with the kids and their families there.
