Insectarium

We decided earlier this week to stay at New Orleans for another week in order to see a few more things and also have some stay at home and rest days.  Yes, retirement really wears you out after a few days!  So we will be leaving here next Wednesday and going to Layfayette, LA. for at least a week.  The campground owners here have invited us to a crawdad boil Sunday noon.  That will be a new kind of Easter dinner for us.  Hope you all have a happy Easter.  On Wednesday we went to the insectarium.  Now off the the insectarium and butterfly garden.  We expected this to be a small place and not take much time, but we spent most of the day there because it was so interesting.

Why is Grandma smiling?  Doesn't she see the giant bug about to bite her?

These are leaf cutter ants carrying pieces of leaves back to their nest.

There were cases and cases of interesting bug and butterflies to look at.

Now there is a bee coming after Grandma!

Not sure why they had alligators there.

Interesting camoflage patterns, the wing tips look like snakes.

And this looks like eyes from a larger animal.

Look closely at the face, do you recognize this bug?

Grandma got to pet a cockroach!

This blue one landed on the back of Grandma's shirt, I think it liked the color.

Looks different folded up, doesn't it?

 Mom took this one.

Peace and love until next time!

  1. Um, you're in Louisiana. Why wouldn't they have alligators?!

    Love you!
